How did you choose what religion you would follow? When did you decide you believed in evolution? Post a 2-4 sentence reply about the origin of YOUR beliefs!

I was raised in a Baptist family but when my father died my mother converted to the Roman Catholic faith which I have followed ever since. When my mother died, for the rest of my life I saw her as a martyr to our faith which has had an impact on my Catholic beliefs. I have always believed in the creation of the Earth as described in Genesis, and I even converted my close friend C.S. Lewis to Christianity.

I was raised as anon-observant Jewish, but attended Catholic  Primary School. During my youth I devoted myself to reading the Bible and even composed hymns that I would sing on the ay to school. However, school taught me new ideas and concepts especially in science and mathematics. This made me realize that my youth was full of primitive hope in a God, whereas there was so much that I didn't understand in math and science. God must have created the world to be learned about and discovered not to meet the needs and hopes of a 11 year old school boy.  I developed my views into that of a pantheist. Pantheism is the belief that God is a part of the universe that He made and that he is only interested in humanity learning about the universe not answering prayers and blessing humanity.

I was raised with a poor family. We had weak religious tires but considered ourselves as christians. I may not be the ideal christian to some of my fellow brothers and sisters. I do though believe that some of what scientists theorize about evolution is false. I did not bring up my religious views during my presidential candidacy because America was in dispute about slavery. I do however follow some beliefs of the christian faith.

I always grew up a Christian. When my dad left my mother and I, we grew closer together. I would attend church more often and get involved in the activities.

Peasants,

I grew up in a household with two devoutly Buddhist parents, so as a younger child I blindly followed the relgion also. As I grew and started to think for myself, I didn't feel like religion was a wise use of time. By my mid-teenage years, I had abandoned Buddhism. I wasn't thoroughly informed on Evolution back when I was trying to figure out what I believed, so it hasn't really concerned me much or played a big role in my life.

When I was a child I was born into a Quaker family. But as I grew older I realized that everyone were hypocrites and didn't follow what they believed in. I just stopped believing in a divine creator. I became a agnostic basically I don't believe in a divine creator but I don't believe in evolution either. I have no religion.

As a young boy, I was raised as a christian, who went to church very often, mostly just because of my parents. When I was a little older, I read Charles Darwin's The Origin of Species, and I became fascinated by this idea of evolution, and readily excepted it just because I was in a very rebellious phase with my parents and the church and I did not see eye to eye when I went as a child. Though now that I am older and I am not so naive, I can confidently tell you that I have an agnostic point of view religion, meaning I have no belief nor disbelief in a higher power.

I kept the same beliefs about religion that i was raised with, which provided some hope through the rough times of my childhood. I think i ultimitely started believing in evolution when in was taught about it in school and was provided with all the evience.

I grew up in a Roman Catholic family. I believe that God created the earth my whole life. Therefore, I do not believe that Evolution exists, it is just an unproven explanation.

I was born as Ehrich Weisz, a Hungarian Jew. My father was a rabbi. Frankly, I had no say in my religion when I was younger, but I chose to stay with my beliefs as I grew up.

I, in fact, was taught the truth as a child. I never had any reason to doubt my church, and I never will! The Church of England tells us the true way of life. As, the leader of the church, I believe I can testify for that. Also, all of you who are not christian should convert immediately.

Hmmmm... Religion... What exactly is Religion? Can it just be a belief that someone holds that coincides with some essence of the beginning of life or is it something that has to be based on some 2000 year old book that tells one how to live their life? If this is the case, then I abide to no religion but if you are to count the first statement, then I believe in revolution. This revolution spurred by the great words of Karl Marx and was nurtured by the opposition towards neocolonialistic ideals held by the "Western Man". This is my religion, this is what my life is structured upon, this is my life... - CHE

I was raised by mother to believe in what was at the time the most common religion of Rome. It would have been considered in ill taste for me to go against this popular belief as I was already of royal blood, and once I became heir, it would have been highly shameful. However, while I was able to learn about other cultures and religions from tutors, Roman Paganism was widely considered the truth, as it should be. Though the religion was partially forced onto me, I would not dare to believe in anything else as I now strongly believe it to be true.
