Evolution should not be taught in schools. I am Roman Catholic and believe that evolution does not exist. Nonetheless, evolution is just a theory and not a proven fact therefore it is pointless to teach it. Why teach something if you don't even know it is true? I take education very highly for I created the Roger Federer Foundation to help countries that have low literacy rates. I created this foundation because I think that everyone deserves to have a proper education. However, if schools teach evolution(not a proven fact) then it should not be taught because it doesn't provide a proper education.
I disagree. I believe that evolution should be taught in schools. I know many people like you are very religious and don't believe in it, but there are others that do and they deserve the chance to learn it. Also, evolution has been proven true by the study of similar organisms, and ancient fossils that have been found of organisms' ancestors.
I don't think evolution should be taught if schools because if schools don't teach other religions/ believes of how the world was create, why should they teach evolution. Also, evolution goes against some people's beliefs or practices, so if a student has an assignment dealing with evolution, the student and the parents of that student might not like the assignment, and the student might not do the assignment. This would cause the student to not get a good grade in the class.
Yes evolution should be taught in schools unless the school runs on what they believe. As a child I remember certain families sending their young children being sent to private schools. These private schools did not teach evolution. I however learned about evolution. To keep in mind that evolution is a theory not fact is very important. Even though it goes against some peoples beliefs, it does not go against everyone's.
I respectfully disagree with your opinion President Lincoln. Evolution shouldn't be taught in schools if other beliefs are not taught in school as well.
Evolution should be taught in schools. Whether or not you chose to believe it is up to you, but it is a commonly seen and discussed theory, and to have knowledgeable discussions with those who do support the theory of evolution. It is possible someone believes a certain aspect of the evolutionary process as explained in school, while not supporting all of it. There are many topics taught in the evolution unit that can be observed, such a natural selection. This is a very important topic, and has many aspects to it. Learning about evolution could help students who are beginning to mature and gain independence create their own beliefs and opinions on the topic of evolution.

Evolution should not be taught in schools. It can cause many arguments that have bad results because many people do not believe that evolution is real. I am Jewish so I believe that God made the earth, and so do many ither people/religions. Although it may be important to science, its not fair to make others learn about what they don't believe in. If students are that interested in evolution, they should learna bout evolution on their own time instead of learning it in school, for it upsets many people of various religions.

Evolution should not be taught in schools. evolution is a personal opinion that should not be forced on to any child. If evolution was taught in schools, you would have to equally talk about religion and Devine origins. Many people do not believe in evolution, and if you test and teach kids about evolution in school you will be forcing them to go against their beliefs for the sake of a good grade. This is not right. As a Christian, I do not believe in evolution and neither do many other children and adults.
I completely understand where you are coming from. Although our beliefs may be different religiously, we both agree on whether or not evolution should be taught in school. Evolution should not be taught in schools because they goes against mamy beliefs.

Steven,
I disagree. Religion is a personal choice, and you should not have to learn anything that goes against it. Evolution does not follow my religion, so I do not think it is important for me to learn it.

I believe that evolution should be taught in schools because it the best explanation for the events of the past and many scientists now regard it as fact. Evolution is an important concept that all children need to understand, regardless of whether or not they choose to believe in it. Many parts of evolution are something that you can observe in everday life, and scientists have proved that they do indeed take place.
Evolution shouldst NOT be taught in schools. I am protestant and do not believe in evolution. Thus, I do not think it shouldst be taught in thy schools. First, one doth not gain knowledge by learning something that is not true, according to some beliefs. Secondly, schools shouldst stay neutral on issues conflicting with religion and not teach something that goes against what some people may believe in. Although many people DO believe in evolution, there are also people that do not, and schools shouldst be fair to all people, regardless of their faith.

After reading thy explanation, I am not so opposed to evolution being taught in schools. I believe that God created the earth, but I understand modern natural selection as well. I understand there are many aspects to evolution, thus I think only aspects of modern history and life shouldst be taught in schools. I still do not think schools should teach of the evolution of man from primates and other issues that provide conflict with religious beliefs. Thank you for giving thy opinion--it has even slightly changed my views!

Anne,
I agree religion is a personal choice, but if you are strong enough in your faith learning about something should not affect your religion. If anything understanding the scientific standpoint will help you persuade others to join you in your beliefs. Honestly there have been many things I initially though were not important for me to learn, but I ended up being proven wrong. While you may sternly refuse to learn about evolution(though it will do you no harm), another classmate may want to. I too am a Jew, but I have managed to stay strong in my religion even after learning about evolution when I was in school.
