#5 - Darwin!! due 3/27

Your response of 4-6 sentences should answer the following questions:

1. Describe Darwin-- Who was he?   What do you think his personality was like?  His work ethic?
2. Was he right in initially trying to hide his work?
3. Do you think some of the reactions about Darwin are fair?
4. If you were to live at the same time and place as Darwin, what might your relationship be like (colleague, friends, enemies

Charles Darwin is a famous scientist who was a naturalist and geologist, he is known for his contributions to the evolutionary theory. I think Darwin would have been a man who questioned beliefs and sought for more than just one explanation, though I find the fact that he was searching for an explanation on how life came about on its own unethical. I feel like Darwin hid his work mainly because he was afraid of the reactions people would have to it,and as an author I can relate and so I do not think it was wrong of him. Although I do not agree with the theory of evolution, I know many people think unjustly of him because they aren't comfortable with a theory that is so different from many religious beliefs, but we all have a right to believe what we choose and it is our choice alone and the theory of evolution is only a theory, you have the choice whether to believe it or not. Also, many people only look at his main contributions to evolution and his contributions to genetics are often overlooked, and so people who disagree with his theory don't realize he made other important contributions. If I had lived in the same place and time as Darwin I think that we would be enemies because his works contradict many of my beliefs, but at the same time I would advise him on his decisions.

Charles Darwin was a geologist, studied today because of his theory of evolution and for introducing the idea that all species spawned from a common ancestor. Luckily for us, it seems that he was very dedicated to his work and paved the way for many other discoveries. Although i might not be able to say he was necessarily 'right' to hide his work, i can understand why he would shield his observations and discoveries from the sharp tongues of critics. His work in evolution and natural selection started a debate that is still going on today. If i was able to live at the same time of Charles Darwin, i believe we wouldn't necessarily be friends, but we would have an understanding of each other. Having a modern school education means that i have been informed about all of his work and the evidence that backs up his theory of natural selection. I would at least not be as criticizing of his discoveries as people in his time period were.

Darwin was an amazing man accomplished great things during his career. He published his book on the theory of natural selection and evolution and was a outstanding zoologist and geologist. He had am incredible love for nature and an amazing work ethic. He wrote volume upon volume on zoology and natural phenomenon. This is, I believe, partly why he waited to publish his findings. It wasn't because of a selfish need to keep it to himself, but instead he was preoccupied with other work. During the 20 years in between the initial founding of the concept of evolution, he wrote and edited 9 books and nearly 30 papers. This work most likely inhibited him from publishing his work on evolution earlier. Another possible reason for the delay is also because of his work ethic. He took great pride in his work and even had medical issues with his heart due to how hard he worked. This caused a need to publish a work that he was 100% certain was correct. He could have wanted so much information to back up his theory that he spent the twenty years collecting data with some of his associates. This new theory was also very controversial and went against most people's belief that God made the Earth and all the species. This could have also deterred him from publishing his work earlier. No matter the reason, as long as the reason was not selfish, I have no issue with him delaying the publication of his own work; In fact, if he spent that time working to back of his theory, then I even applaud him for delaying the publication.  Reactions to Charles Darwin's work were sometimes negative, but all groundbreaking works are met with opposition. I was called an atheist, which I am not, because of my theory of relativity and other works. The theory of evolution was a new idea and I think that it was fair for people to react to it with opposition especially if it contradicted their beliefs. However, I do not condone aggression towards a different belief, only polite disagreement. I personal believe that God created the universe, but I do believe in evolution. My field of study is also not that of his. Due to common beleifs, but differing fields, we would only be friends. He is a good man and a great scientist, and I am glad to learn from his work.

Darwin was the person who made up the idea of evolution. He traveled on a five year trip around the world and collected data on many species and fossils. He was right on hiding his work because he thought the community would not like him for it and disagree with it (or parts of it). I am not exactly a fan of his work, so I know how the community and I react to him. However, the reactions were fair. I would probably not know him, and I would probably disrespect his work and call it false because of my beliefs.

Charles Darwin was a very curious man who couldn't take no as an answer and is known for developing an evolutionary theory that states why organisms come to differ from each other. He discovered the process of natural selection where better adapted organisms  from a species survive longer and are able to produce more offspring with better adapted traits which then causes the gene pool of a species to change and differ from other species after many generations. When Charles took his trip around the word aboard the HMS Beagle he collected data on the organisms he discovered during his voyage and found that organisms living on nearby Galapagos Islands came to differ in appearance because of their different environment and food.

I believe he was right in trying to hide his work because it would have aroused a lot of anger from people who believed the only source of change is created by God.  I suppose I wouldn't have been great friends with him for his beliefs and work are too extreme and he evokes suspicion in me for disregarding that God is the one who created our world and believing that nature acts on its own. The reactions people had about Darwin's work are perfectly fair for it is his problem for trying to find a different idea for why different organisms come to exist for another reason than God. He must have been utterly crazy for wasting five years of his life on a boat trying to figure out why organisms differ from each other!

Charles Darwin was a biologists, best known for his work as a naturalist and developing his theory of evolution about biological change. I believe he must have been a very driven man who didn't give up. I also believe he was very brave, for he criticized the common belief that either all species came into existence at the beginning of the world, or were created over the course of natural history. People believed that species remained mostly the same throughout time. Darwin contradicted this belief and had to face much criticism, even though he had proof. I do not blame him for originally trying to hide his work. It would be scary to announce that what everyone believed to be true, was wrong. Also, he was baptized and was raised going to church. He was actually pretty religious. It must have been difficult to find this evidence working against the divine being he had grown up with. It is also understandable that some people were very critical of him. He proposed this preposterous idea that God hadn't created everything! He also basically told people, and scientists, that they were wrong. No one likes to be told that they are wrong.  I can see why people didn't like his line of thinking. If Darwin were to live in the same time period as me, I believe we would get along. We may not be the best of friends, but we wouldn't hate each other. I personally believe that everything was created by God, so I wouldn't necessarily like this new idea of evolution. However, I would be open to learn more about it. I would definitely give Darwin a chance.

Charles Darwin was a famous scientists known for his main contribution to the theory of evolution. He initially wanted to find out what was going on and how we had become what we are. He found something great and at The time, people didn't think much about the beginning and thought it was basic. He first hid his work because he might have been scared that people would thing he was crazy. No one back then thought that anything like this was normal. He was very independent and brave as to question the origin that everyone else believed. Reactions to his work were mostly very surprising and more negative. He created a whole new beginning and many people didn't like this. Scientists saw this as extraordinary and adopted it into biology. A theory that creates a controversial argument over how the earth was created. He was implying against many religions that state beliefs towards divine origins. This is why he was shown negative reactions. I would not critisize him in our current time period depending on how open our generation is to new discoveries. Back in his time, we would have been hard to sway in beliefs. Him proposing a theory that goes against most of what people believed at the time would have caused us to not get along well. I do not believe in everything that Darwin stated, but his theory is interesting to study. I would love to learn more about it.

Charles Darwin was an observer of the world. I feel that he saw things in the world that few others wouldn’t dare acknowledge (it’s all very scandalous). He must have been conflicted as well though. His mother passed away when he was very young, and his father pressured him toward something he just couldn’t do. Not to mention, he attended a college named after Christ- and his findings somewhat refuted (correct) religious beliefs.  His work ethic must have been very high, as he went on a dedicated voyage for five years. I can’t even keep marriages last that long! He must have been very dedicated to take such good notes; he started a new science with his work alone. I believe that he was right to hide his work, because if his world is anything like mine, he would have a lot to be afraid of. It would have been all too controversial to publicize his work.

I do believe that some of the reactions about Darwin are fair. He did basically renounce the church (and, as Defender of the Faith, I simply cannot allow that). I am the head of a religious revelation, and to agree with this “Charles Darwin” would be to renounce myself. So, I conclude, that if I lived at the same time and place or Darwin, we would be enemies. I am practically the most religious man of my time (or, at least, no one has said this to be untrue)! I am the King of England!  It would not do to have anyone saying such outrageous things running about much less agree with and support him. Although I can appreciate his work ethic, I simply couldn’t stand him.

Charles Darwin was an English naturalist and geologist who published a book called On the Origin of Species. He's best known for his study of the finches and turtles when he visited the Galapagos Islands, although he also traveled the world collecting data, and he observed that different finches on different islands had different beak shapes and that different turtles in different areas had different shell shapes. This led him to propose the theory of evolution and natural selection, and he also established that all species of life have descended over time from common ancestors. He was a great, brave person who was curious and challenged the beliefs of everyone at that time, and he was a very hard worker and had a great work ethic since he wrote a whole book and gathered all of that data to back up his theory. I understand why he initially tried to hide his work from the world because he was probably intimidated since it would cause many debates and arguments because society thought differently, especially religion wise. If I were in his situation, I would probably think the same way. Because I'm incredibly famous and because of all the media that reports on every move I make, I know know what it feels like to even dare to slightly challenge what most of people thinks. It must have been terrifying to wholly defy society. Even though I completely do not agree with his beliefs, I think that he should've published it anyways because he worked too hard on his work to not show it immediately. So, I believe that he was partially wrong in initially trying to hide his work because you should always stay true to yourself. Regarding the reactions of Darwin and his publications, I think that they were fair because it completely went against what the Bible said about how humans and life began on Earth by the hands of God. A lot of people felt very strongly about their beliefs on that, and he basically just simply stated that God and that the Bible was wrong. Of course people reacted badly on that! As a Christian, I believe that God created man and life, but if I lived at the same time and place as Darwin, I might have been his friend but definitely not colleague nor enemy. To be my friend, you just have to like me. I would absolutely disagree with his theory but would still respect him and what he had to say. Like I say, "We don't need to share the same opinions as others, but we need to be respectful." However, would advise him to 'shake it off,' ignore the 'haters,' and stay true to himself no matter what others think.

Charles Darwin was a renowned naturalist and geologist that developed the theory of evolution by natural selection and revolutionized the study of living things for forever. I think that Darwin was a very curious man that never quite believed in what everyone else had thought to be true. I also think he worked very hard on all the things that interested him the most, and moved on from things that didn’t interest him at all. I can see why he would want to hide his work at first because it didn’t agree with most people’s beliefs during that time, but I also think that if he didn’t hide his work and had a few colleagues that shared his interests he could have accomplished more in a shorter amount of time. I think the way that people reacted to his findings were pretty normal. Imagine being told that something was created a certain way your whole life and then being told that all of your beliefs have been proven wrong, that would certainly cause an arousal of dismay and anger towards him. If I were to live in the same time period as Darwin then I would be a supporter of his work by reading about his findings and looking even further into more of his work. After all, it is always good to say curious.

Charles Darwin was a geologist and a naturalist from England. He went on a voyage around the world that helped him develop the theory of evolution and the concept of natural selection. He also formulated the idea that all organisms came from a common ancestor. I think he was obviously very smart and observant. I think he was very stubborn and wouldn't take no for an answer. I think he would work hard until he finally got what he wanted and more. The reactions Darwin got were fair, because they just received new information that, depending on their views, may or may not have contradicted with their religion. Back then and even now, there are people who believe strongly in their religion, and they do not like for it to be implied to be wrong in any way. But, Darwin was just stating what he found, not besmirching their religion. From my speculation, I believe I could be friends with him, but that is from my own conjecture on what I think he is like.

Charles Darwin... a man that was revered as one of the greatest yet most tyrannized minds in human history. Not to the effect that he was doing anything wrong, but rather a contradiction to popular societal belief that was dictated by the blind belief in a book. Darwin, being an English naturalist and geologist, experience the world in a new light as he established a theory in which he believed that all species of life, essence of life rather, evolved from a common ancestors over a long period of time. He meticulously patterned his work in a way that he could figure out many things in evolution without the use of "Modern Technology" as he visited my land to do research upon the birds of Galapagos. This man was right to hide his work as the society was dictated by this notion of the "Almighty God" creating everything that ever existed and Science is just an excuse for people not to believe in God. As a rebel myself, I believe that no reaction from any man is justified on the means of arbitrary notations as he was, and still is, heavily criticized due to the brainwashing of the masses. If I were to meet this man, I would detest him, not on his stances on science, but due to his affiliation with the imperialistic nation of Great Britain that went out of its way to conquer and destroy each and every piece of culture that it took over. Overall, Darwin is a man that will be revered and ridiculed for as long as man can survive. - CHE

Charles Darwin was a naturalist that is best known for developing a theory of evolution to explain biological change. He took a five year trip around the world. Through these five years Darwin conducted his research and studied his observations to develop a theory based on the origins of life. There was no doubt that Darwin was an inquisitive man who never gave up. For I do believe his studies are unethical, due to my belief of God creating the world, I respect him for his determination. However, many people did not share the same respect as me.Therefore, Darwin received lots of  hate from religious people and I ,in a way, think this was fair. Darwin should have realized the amount of anger he would have brought up before developing his theory. He initially tried to hide his work and I think that it was right. He could have avoided the hate but he dove straight into it and I respect that . Despite the amount of hate and atrocious comments he received because of the theory he persevered and fought through this obstacle. His perseverance and diligence should be given praise. For no one believed him and supported him, he was still confident in himself and developed the the unethical theory of evolutionary change. If I were to live in the same time and place as Darwin, I think we would be close friends. Yes, we may see differences in beliefs, but we both have the same mindset. This mindset is to keep believing in yourself and persevere through tough times.

Charles Darwin is a famous naturalist who expanded on Erasmus Darwin ( Charles's grandfather) theory that all life evolved from one species. I think his personality would be rebellious. Not the criminal rebellious. I'm talking about he rejects the idea that is though to be true and follows his own theory. I think he was right to hide his work his work. A good example would be Rosalind Franklin. Her work was stolen and she as never given credit for it until after she died. I would think that the people's reactions were fair. They were just believing what they learnt to be true. I feel like Darwin and I would not be friends mainly because I disagree with his thought, but i wouldn't also look at myself as his enemy.

Charles Darwin was the originator of the biological theory of evolution. I think Charles Darwin's personality would be headstrong, he would have to be. He had to believe enough in his work to overcome the criticism he knew he was going to be given. I think he was smart to conceal his work, for there might have been worse repercussions if he hadn't. He challenged the beliefs of the people of his time, and this was dangerous. I believe the reactions to Darwin's work were fair, because he was working against the thoughts of the people and all they knew and grew up with, and he was finding proof that it was true. I mean, how would you feel if all that you loved and believed in was being called nonsense by some man? I believe if i knew Charles Darwin personally, that he might not be one of my favorite people, because his research and findings go against my religion completely, but I may warn him about keeping his work even closer then he thinks necessary, only to protect him.

Darwin was a geologist who studied the theory of evolution. He thought that all species came from a common ancestor. Darwin seems like a secretive kind of person. When he kept his secret about his work, he would have been good at keeping secrets. I think his work ethic would have been good and strong. I think it was a good idea that Darwin kept his work a secret. So when he told everyone what he thought about evolution, he had enough evidence to back himself up and convince others that he was right. His reactions were fair though. If I was able to live in the time and place as Darwin, I think we would be colleagues, even though I don't totally believe in his views.

Darwin was an English naturalist and geologist who is known for studying the theory of evolution. He seems like a very stubborn and strong-willed person because he had to break the beliefs of his time by presenting his research to the public. His work ethic would have to be very strong because he had to work through people who did not believe him. I think it was smart of him to initially hide his work because he needed to have evidence to prove that he was correct. If he publicized his findings to early, when people would question him he wouldn't have any evidence to back himself up with. I think the reactions to Darwin's work are fair considering the beliefs of the time. If me and Darwin were to know each other I think we would be friends even if I don't fully agree with his views.

Darwin was a naturalist who developed the theory of evolution. I believe he was a naturally curious man, never satisfied until he had a reason for all things. I also think he was quite a modest man for he proposed his findings yet openly encouraged further research or opposing evidence. Darwin must have been an open-minded man and was willing to accept anything that should fall upon his eyes. I suggest he was a hard worker and never stopped until he felt his work done. I shan't believe Darwin should have tried to hide his work; I certainly hath never done such a thing! One's work is something to be proud of and he shan't be bashful about such. Moreover, even if one has doubts of the accuracy or acceptability of his work, he should still reveal it to the world and embrace the judgement that follows! History is made when one challenges what is accepted, not when one fears harsh judgement. And to talk of harsh judgement, I do believe reactions to Darwin's work are fair. All men are entitled to believe what they choose to believe; no man has an obligation to blindly accept Darwin's findings. As I write this, I realize that Darwin has faced challenges quite similar to myself. There were many instances in which I was criticized for my works and audiences commonly shouted out to actors during performances. It is hard to push such instances aside and to ignore judgement, but 'tis what I had to do to continue writing my amazing works. The same shalt apply to Darwin. Criticism was to be expected, but the difference exists when one can also embrace it. If I lived in his time, or he in mine, I believe we would each have the utmost respect for the other, but I do not believe we would have a close relationship. We are very different in our livelihoods and in our fields of interest. My social circle shan't move far from my fellow playwrights and actors. In the end, however, I have quite an admiration and respect for Darwin, and am most impressed with his findings and open-mindedness.

Charles Darwin, a famous biologist that lived in the 1800's, is best known for his views on natural selection and for developing a theory of evolution. I’ll admit that I believe that he was a curious and determined man, for he studied natural selection whilst knowing that everyone around him had opposing views. I don’t think it was right for Charles Darwin to hide his work though. If he truly felt that it would benefit the world and further human knowledge about life, he was selfish and a coward to veil his work in fear of criticism. Regarding the public’s reaction to his theory, I am certain that, as with any new or different concept that is brought to light, there will always be controversy. Contradicting the popular and religious belief of Creationism will of course result in an uproar. If I was to live in the same time and place as Charles Darwin, I doubt that we’d have been friends. He wasn’t a fraudulent psychic, so an enemy he wouldn’t make. But as I am a believer in my Jewish faith, I disagree with him and his thinking pertaining to evolution. I do think that would be a taboo topic were we to be in each other’s company.

Charles Darwin is a famous scientist best known for his views on natural selection. I think he had a personality of a person who was just curious and wanted answers. He wasn't just somebody who settled for something or automatically believed something without knowing the facts behind it. He obviously has a good work ethic because he was obviously willing to do his best find answers and to try to prove and come up with his theories and he was willing to go to Galapagos island just to do research. I think it wasn't right for him to hide his research, while some people's reactions were unfair it's still his duty as scientist to posy his results. I think I would have been a great friend of darwin, because are scientific views are so similar, but probably not colleagues because are fields of studies are different.

Charles Darwin was an English naturalist and geologist who greatly contributed to the theory of evolution due to his exploits at the Galapagos Islands. I think he was probably a very smart and secretive man, though I can not deny that he seemed to have had a very large work ethic and did all that he could in his career. I think he was very wise about hiding his work, because especially at that time, he would have been reprimanded and ridiculed for his accomplishments because of the power of the church in England at that time. I think that everyone is entitled to believe what they want to believe, so I think the reactions to Darwin are justified because I know nobody likes being told that what they base their whole life on is false. As long as it is done respectfully, everyone can have their own opinion on Darwin's work and beliefs. I think Darwin and I would be colleagues, and maybe even friends, because we both shares some of the same traits and characteristics, and that would promote and friendship between the two of us.

Charles Darwin was a naturalist born on February 12, 1809 in Shrewsbury, England. At 16, he enrolled in University, and later got a job traveling the world. His exposure to specimens all over the globe encouraged curiosity and he began to question how species were created. He then came to believe that species evolved through a process called ‘natural selection’. In 1858 he finally published ‘On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection’. He received terrible criticism from the church as well as the press for suggesting an idea as absurd (in that time period) as evolution. However, it became a bestseller and he coined the term ‘survival of the fittest’ and in the 5th edition titled ‘The Descent Of Man’ he shared the idea the humans evolved from apes, and gained much controversy. In the beginning, Darwin was definitely trying to hide his world from the public, knowing how much it varied from the popular opinion. If I lived in the same time period as Darwin, I would definitely disagree with his theory of evolution but would respect him as a hardworking scientist.

Charles Darwin was the scientist who popularized the theory of evolution. Although I was dead long before he was alive, I think he was very curious, asked lots of questions, and spent a lot of time outdoors. Also, despite my disagreements with his contributions, he had a good work ethic. He spent years committed to fighting in secret for his cause. As for the part about secrecy, I do not think it was a good idea to hide his work. Yes, although there will be critics, as with everything, he may have found some useful colleagues if he had made his working known. Some people's initial reactions to Darwin are unfair because they either look at him above other scientists or debase him below the others. This treatment of Darwin is unfair. They must respect that he worked hard and made contributions that weren't necessarily evolution-related. He was just another scientist that you children learn about in school these days. If Darwin and I lived in the same time period, we would probably be friends, regardless of the fact that our beliefs differed. After all, I respected many other people's beliefs while ruling my empire.

Charles Darwin is a famous scientist/naturalist that originally composed the idea of evolution. He seems like a person who had a very strong work ethic and was passionate about making new discoveries in the natural world. I don't necessarily agree with him trying to hide his work at first, but I can see where he was coming from. His work brought up many controversies between people who followed different religions. The part I disagree with is that withholding the information prolonged the advancement of scientific ideas describing the history of living organisms. I believe the reactions to Darwin's ideas are fair because many religions believe that a god or other spirit created the Earth. I disagree with Darwin because his work goes against my faith of being Jewish. If Darwin and I were alive at the same time, I believe we would be friends. Although we have different beliefs, we both share a passion for learning, and we both have a curious character.

Charles Darwin was a man who traveled across the world studying specimens around the Globe which led him to develop his theory of evolution. I think that Charles Darwin's personality must have been determined due to him traveling across the whole world. His work ethic also must have also been very good because it must have taken a lot of hard work just to get a crew and a ship to help him travel across the globe. I feel like he was right to hide his work at first because if you work hard at something, you certainly would not try to take the risk of someone trying to steal your work. I think that some of the reactions to Darwin were fair because his principles offended some people and not everybody shares the same views. Although I don't agree with his theory of evolution, if I were to live in the same time and place as Darwin, I think we would would be friends because he was hard working.

Charles Darwin... wasn’t he that famous naturalist and geologist. Yeah, that’s right; he’s the one who developed the theories of evolution. He was quite well known for that, especially with his research on the Galapagos finches and tortoises. He believed that all species came from a common ancestor. He must have been pretty motivated, he'd need to be at a time like that. Just about everyone seemed to disagree, which I suppose is why he kept his work secret at first. People like to fight when they disagree on something, trust me, I know all about that, so it’s not too hard to wonder why he would hide it. I can understand people’s reactions to these obscured theories as well. To think that everything they had been taught was wrong, which, I’m not saying it wasn’t… but to accept a new belief just like that? It simply isn’t done. I wonder what would happen if we were alive together…? We’d certainly disagree. I doubt it’d be too far off to say we’d be enemies. Or well, I could probably just have him executed. I don't like people telling me I'm wrong.

Greetings again peasants,

Charles Darwin is the scientist who formulated the idea of evolution to explain the biological change that he was witnessing all around him, mostly when he was traveling on the HMS beagle. He was a naturalist, which means he believed that only natural forces operated in the world, as opposed to supernatural or spiritual forces. When he first formulated the idea of evolution, I believe that it was reasonable to not publicize it. He would've gotten brutally criticized by the Church of England, as his ideas were unconventional at the time, especially to the traditional beliefs that had been shown as truth for years on end. Not to mention that scientists have a reputation for stealing information from others' research. So overall, I feel he was doing himself better by not sharing at first.  I believe reactions to Darwin's ideas are warranted. He's not any better than the rest of us, so whether he gets praise or criticism, it doesn't matter, people are just expressing their opinions. If he really had a problem with it, he should've just done what I did: crush anyone who disagreed with me.  If Darwin and I were to be put in the same place at the same time, I have a feeling we wouldn't get along. If he tried to introduce new ideas to the people of China while I was ruling, he might turn them against me, or spark some kind of rebellion. He might ruin my reign, and I can't even bear to dream about that scenario.

Until next time,

Mao Zedong

Charles Darwin was a Scientist that specialized in the field of biology, and took observations intending the explain the world from a natural point of view. Now, as a man that traveled from island to island taking detailed accounts of present organisms, it would thus appear his work ethic is good and he has a sharp mind that is always churning. A man of logic and reason, likely not one to make jokes but he would instead, investigate into why we laugh at jokes in the first place. As for hiding his work, it is pretty reasonable, though times had changed, only 318 years earlier (from when he landed at the galapagos) had a monk nail a list of grievances that disagreed with the christian church, and that caused a huge outrage and years of conflict following. Perhaps he didn't want to start another war between the christian monarchs of Europe. Reguardless, when he did release his data, there was still an outrage which makes sense, and I don't see it as "un-justified" or stuff such as that. As Christian in secret, I may not be able to get along with him on a personal level, but on a public, I'm sure our relation ship would be ok; A colleague in public, but an enemy in heart.

Hello again Apple users,

Charles Darwin was an English geologist who is most known for his contributions to the evolution theory. I think Charles was a very hidden man who didn't like a lot of attention. I also think that his work ethic was amazing because he did a lot throughout his life, and that takes time. But his work ethic can't be better then Siri's! I think Darwin initially tried to hide his work because he was afraid of getting criticized. Also, he was from England, which is a very Catholic country, and Catholic's do not believe in evolution, so if he did publish his theory, there would've been a lot of backlash. I think the reactions about Darwin are unfair because everybody is entitled to a opinion, and it is not our right to judge, even though we may not agree with him. If I were to know and live at the same time period as Darwin, our relationship wouldn't be very good because our beliefs are so different. But you have to keep reputations and be respectful, so I wouldn't show it.

Charles Darwin was an English naturalist who has had an immense impact on the scientific world of today. He was very much involved in bringing up his children, and unlike other fathers of that time, he played a major role in his family. It is very likely that he was dedicated to his work as a naturalist, but always make time for his family. Darwin's decision to initially hide his work until a complete though surrounding his theory could be published can certainly be understood. It took many years of research and investigation before he could introduce his theory which went against the norm of that time, and still he may not have published it were it not for another scientist who was proposing the same conclusion he had come to. It is very likely that he knew he would face harsh criticism from both other naturalists and religious groups, and may have been ignored or ridiculed if he made his theory known.  It is definitely fair that many people reacted harshly to Darwin's theory. Many religious groups are currently dismissing scientific findings that go against their religion. Plus, it is hard to change from a belief you have supported all your life to a new one that many people don't agree with. If i were an Orthodox Jew at that time, I would probably be a stronger supporter of my religion, and therefore refuse to accept his theory, leading us to simply be acquaintances or possibly even enemies.

Charles Darwin was an English naturalist and geologist and he discovered the natural selection evolutionary theory. He traveled to the Galapagos islands and observed finches and the changes in them. He had a great work ethic. He used to be a Christian but then that changed when he was forty. I can understand why Charles Darwin would try to hide his work because I wouldn't be certain of it and would question if it was correct. When Darwin made his theory it disagreed with creationism and many people did not like it and went against him on it. I believed that he was just proposing a new theory and people especially the people who believe in creationism and it was unfair on how they treated him. But if I was living during the times of Charles Darwin I would barely be friends with him because we don't believe in similar things but we wouldn't be enemies because I didn't believe in creationism or evolution.
